This recipe for “Greek Style” Chili Sauce packs powerful flavor without the salt. Using Florida Greek Guy’s award-winning No Salt Seasoning this sauce is great on roasted meats, fish and vegetables – and even great as a vegetable dip!
4 pounds ripe tomatoes peeled and chopped
2 onions, chopped fine
6 cloves garlic chopped fine
1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped fine
3 each fresh jalapeño peppers, cayenne peppers, datil peppers (Optional)
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons Florida Greek Guy No Salt Seasoning
1 Tablespoon sweet paprika
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
3 whole cloves
1 small cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 cup red wine
Place tomatoes, onions, and bell pepper (and optional hot peppers) in pan and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally for 30 minutes. Next, remove from heat and run cooked mixture through a blender until smooth. Then, put blended veggies back into the pan and add remaining ingredients. Simmer mixture until thick. Once thickened, remove cloves and cinnamon stick. Finally, store in tightly sealed container and refrigerate.
